What should I feed my pet bird? The answer is PELLETS! Generally, our pet birds will live a long and healthy life if they primarily eat pellets and a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. Seeds are deficient in lysine, calcium, sodium, manganese, zinc, iron, iodine, selenium, vitamins A, D, E, B12 and K, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, available niacin, and choline. Seeds are also high in fat. Birds in South America and Africa are rarely if ever exposed to sunflower seeds and peanuts. So, why feed them???
